Lou Ella Allen - National President of Spanish America War

Lou Ella Pinson Allen

Lou Ella was bon March 6, 1876 in Mississippi and was the daughter of William Harrison Pison and Amanda Adaline Champon. She was the 3rd oldest child of 8 children.  Lou Ella married Patrick Vernon Allen on  June 21, 1916 in Aspermont, Stonewall County, Texas.  They had no children.  She lived most of early life in Ennsign near Ennis, Texas.

She operated a clothing shop in Ennis for forty-two years before her retirement in 1951.

She was a former director of the Ennis Chamber of Commerce and the Retail Merchants Association. She was honored by the Chamber and by the Ennis Lions Club this year as an outstanding citizen. She served as national president and state president of the Spanish American War Veterans auxiliary.

Mrs. Allen also headed several other Ennis civic and social groups and was active in the Democratic Women's Organization. She was a member of the First Methodist Church

Mrs. Allen's plaque was dedicated on June 29, 1941 by Mr.s Louise Richards, the plaque has not been located.  Mrs. Allen is buried at Mytrle Cemetery in Ennis, Ennis County. Texas
