Ernest was the principle of North Dallas HIgh School. He had been a teacher and a superintendent in Union, Putman County, Ohio. He was the son of
Orange Scott Comstock and Emma West. Both his parents remained in Sylvania, Lucas County, Ohio until their deaths. In Paulding, Ohio, Ernest married Madge May Barns on 21st of December 1906. Their first daughter, Doris Louise was born on May 11, 1909 in Putman, Ohio, their 2nd daughter Helen was born 15th of Sept 1911 in Bonham, Fannin Co., TX. Ernest fought in World War I. Upon his returned they had their 3rd and final child, a son, Edwin Barnes Comstock who was born on October 15th 1919 here in Dallas. The family lived at 4622 Virginia Street.

Ernest was award a plaque in the Historical Tree Grove on April 28th, 1938. As of this date we are not sure who presented the plaque but hopefully we will find out in the near future.

Ernest died April 4, 1956 at St. Pauls Hospital here in Dallas from a Malignant Tumor found in his liver. He was buried at the Restland Memorial Park. His wife Madge May Barnes Comstock was laid to rest next to him on 16th of June, 1969.
