Lt. Colonel Richard Llewellyn Coleman

Burial: Cedar Hill Cemetery, Rusk, Cherokee County, Texas

Richard was born on June 24, 1879 in Louisville, Kentucky and was the son of Richard Lllewlelly Coleman Sr and Mary Smith.  They later moved to St. Louis, Missouri and then onto Rusk County.   He married Paulina Miller on October 30, 1907 in Rusk, Cherokee County, Texas, Their only child Richard Miller Coleman was born March 12, 1910 and died 4 months later on April 15th.   Richard Llewellyn Colema enlisted in military and served during World War I.  After his service, he and his wife resided in Dallas, Texas. They lived at 2911 S. Boulevard.  He was the commander of the ROTC of North Dallas High School.

On April 14, 1937, E.B. Combstock, the principal at North Dallas High School, dedicated a plaque to Richard for his military teaching at the school.  Richard and his wife are buried in the in the family plot in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Rusk, Texas.  His wife Pauline died March 22, 1953 and Richard died 10 years later on September 20, 1963.
