Mary Virginia Cole Brower was born November 8, 1870 to Joseph Larkin Cole and Virgina Overton in Dallas, Texas.  Mary and her parents lived at 139 Melba Street, Dallas, Texas,

According the 1900 Census record Mary had  been married to John Henry Brower for a year, approximately in 1899 or 1898. Mary and John had two children, Lorena Brower and Joseph Cole Brower, living at 3227 Elihu St, Dallas, Texas in 1920. Both children attended Forest Avenue High School (in 1956 the school was renamed James Madison High School).

Mary's husband, J. H. (John Henry) Brower was a prominent hardware merchant whose business was located at 831 Exposition Avenue in the late 1930's, just across from the State Fair of Texas.  The Brower's lived 1921 N. Fitzhugh Avenue at the time of the 1930 Census.  Mary was active in the social and civic community of Dallas during the 1930-1940's.

Burial: Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas

In 1937, Mrs. C.C. Cameron present a plaque in the Texas Historic Tree Planting Association Grove to Mrs. J. H. Brower.  Mrs. Brower's plaque has not been found and believed to have been stolen or vandalized.  Mrs. Bower died at 9:20pm 10th of November, 1966 at Doctor's Nusing Center located at 1921 Fitzhugh from cardiac arrest.
